The Dream Team

Isabella and Sibilla have both been sewing since childhood. They went to school together in San Francisco, California. After going their separate ways in college they reconnected on social media and discovered they both loved to sew.

Sibilla is a Savile Row trained tailor with a background in costuming. Isabella is a professional stage artist and a self-taught Sewist with an extensive knowledge in fiber crafts.

They are a Dream Team. Sibilla’s expertise and Isabella’s self-taught approach to sewing is a perfect symbiosis.

They are passionate about making to art of tailoring accessible to all with a desire to learn.

How does it work?

Each workshop is a combination pre-recorded videos, diagrams and notes,  live Zoom sessions, as well as communication with instructors and peers through the discussion board dedicated to each workshop.

Once you've signed up, you will have access to the workshop's documents and forum, which is used to ask questions, share progress, and communicate with fellow classmates.
In addition to the instructional videos, and workshops documents, all Zoom sessions are also recorded and uploaded to the platform, where you can watch and re-watch at your convenience.
This allows you to do the work in your own time, at your own pace.

Words from our students

Absolutely loved all of the workshops! Bella and Sibi's combined knowledge and experience is inspiring, and they are incredibly kind and and patient teachers. You can go at your own pace, and the quality of the online videos and material is amazing. I would recommend the courses to anyone wanting to get better or get started at tailoring!

I have been sewing for over 40 years and even have a degree in fashion design, but I have never been exposed to the skills offered here. I so wish I had had this exposure so much earlier in my career. Sabilla has an amazing eye that sees through cyberspace to help you get the best fit down to the smallest details along with having so much knowledge and mastery of her craft. She is gentle and encouraging and no issue has stumped her.

I'm so glad I decided to join in on the course. At one point I wasn't sure if it would be too advanced for me as I've only recently started sewing, but it's been so informative, supportive and easy to follow. I'm loving learning tailoring techniques and am excited to keep learning more and making great friends in the process too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have the skills?

The level of sewing knowledge you will need depends on the workshop, but all workshops require a basic knowledge of sewing: how to use a sewing machine, basic knowledge of garment construction and pattern comprehension. None of our workshops require any tailoring experience at all. That’s what we’re here for! Our Tailored Overcoat and Jacket Workshops require intermediate to advanced sewing experience or enrollment in our Fitting Workshop, because they do not include toile fittings. We recommend beginners take our Tailored Waistcoat Workshop!

Is it okay if I can't make it to the live Zoom meetings?

Absolutely! All the Zoom meetings are recorded and uploaded to the platform, so you have access to all the information even if you can't attend the meeting.

Are materials Included?

We currently do not provide any materials in the purchase of our workshops other than the instructional recordings, diagrams and notes.
However, we are partnered with vendors to provide you with a package of tailoring materials (trimmings) for the waistcoat, jacket and overcoat workshops. These must be purchased separately and through the vendor’s website.

What materials do I need?

What Patterns do you recommend?

We have a variety of pattern recommendations for different style jackets/overcoats for all genders. Patterns for bespoke and ready-to-wear are slightly different, so some of our recommendations require slight modifications to be used in our workshops. Check out our Tailoring Workshop Pattern and Materials List.

What cloth do you recommend using?

Since our workshops use bespoke tailoring techniques (rather than ready-to-wear) we recommend using 100% natural fiber wool, cashmere, mohair and linen or any of these blended with cotton or silk.
Some cloth we DO NOT recommend is velvet, corduroy, 100% cotton, gaberdine, brocade, jacquard, leather, lame, or any other synthetics.
Polyester blends can be used for toiles.
For lining we recommend Bemberg (cupro) lining, which is a high quality rayon used throughout the tailoring industry.
